It is a requirement of the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations that at least 30% of a yacht's crew (including the skipper) shall have undertaken approved training as prescribed in Section 6 fo the Regulations on safety at sea in order to be eligible for entering offshore races. To enable members of the Clubs and sailors in Hong Kong to obtain the required qualification, the HKSF organizes, in conjunction with the Yachting Australia, a series of  Safety At Sea Survival Course in March every year. Successful participants will receive a HKSF certificate that valids for five years from the date of issue. This certificate will be accepted at other regattas where there is such a requirement.
